Johannes Brahms--Germany |
“Hungarian Dance No. 5” is one of the most popular of Johannes Brahm’s smaller works. It reflects the sudden tempo changes and contrasts in dynamics and mood that are typical of gypsy music. There are four short melodies in this dance. The first is minor which makes it sound sad. The second has a syncopated rhythm used by gypsies and jazz musicians. You’ll hear staccato and legato articulations in the third and fourth melodies. | |
