Richard Wagner--Germany

One of the greatest opera composers was Richard Wagner from Germany.  He was responsible for changing the form of opera by combining drama and music with ballet, scenery, costuming and staging.  Lohengrin tells a story about the Holy Grail and this “Prelude to Act III” uses the sounds of a large orchestra to surprise the listener with lots of dynamics changes—from piano (soft) to fortissimo (very loud).
