Aaron Copland--United States |
Appalachian Spring was first written as a ballet with orchestra but it has become well known as a suite for symphony orchestra. The music describes a pioneer celebration of spring on a farm in Pennsylvania. American composer Aaron Copland used the Shaker tune “Simple Gifts” as his theme for which he wrote five variations. | |
